Cherise Fung is a senior at Kutztown University majoring in psychology, with minors in political science and literature. She is excited to delve into postcolonial theory this semester where issues of politics, gender, culture and literature intersect. Specifically, she is interested in issues of hybridity and identity.
Born and raised in Subang Jaya, a suburban city about 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, she is a liminal subject herself. Her formative years were spent reading Enid Blyton and Harry Potter, watching English movies with subtitles in Malay and Mandarin, and frequenting Indian mamak stalls with friends to devour roti canai dipped in dhal.
